Mission Work in the Book of Acts
What should missionaries do? The book of Acts shows us the pattern of how the early church and specifically the Apostle Paul and his teammates boldly spread the gospel into new, unreached places. In this episode we walk through Paul’s journeys and find a general pattern for mission work.
EPISODE NOTES
In our previous episode, we explained good reasons to believe that the book of Acts was meant to be an instructive guide for mission work. In this episode, we walk through the gospel going out from Jerusalem through ordinary believers and through Paul on his three missionary journeys. A pattern for missions emerges: entry into unreached places, bold gospel proclamation, discipleship of new believers, church formation, development and appointment of elders, and exit into partnership.
Scriptures Discussed:
Spread of Gospel from Jerusalem through Scattered Believers: Acts 8:1-4; 11:19-26
Paul’s First Missionary Journey: Acts 13-14
Paul’s Second Missionary Journey: Acts 15:36-18:22
Paul’s Third Missionary Journey: Acts 18:23-21:20
Romans 15:17-19
We pray that this episode is an encouragement and challenge for all listeners as we look at Paul’s lifestyle of full commitment to Christ and getting the gospel to people with no access.
