Why “Coworkers?”
It’s admittedly not the most glamorous name for a podcast—The Coworkers Podcast. We have our reasons, though, and the main reason is a biblical one. When Paul talks about his fellow missionaries, the name he most commonly gives them is “coworkers” (synergoi). Beyond that, Paul refers to many others—both men and women—who were his “fellow prisoners” in the work and “hard workers” in the Lord. This scattered, diverse band of redeemed sinners made up the missionary force of the early church.
After almost 20 years of missionary work, we’re more convinced than ever that every believer is called to be a coworker in God’s mission. Some are called to go the nations as workers on missionary teams, and all are called to labor in the places the Lord puts His children. We started this podcast with the hope that we could encourage believers everywhere to grow in their Gospel coworker-ness. We address critical issues in missions and the Great Commission for all believers, both goers and senders.
As we do, we’re committed to the Word of God and the guidance of His Spirit as our anchors of authority. We want to highlight clear, scriptural teaching on missions and Great Commission obedience for the church at large. We also want to ignite a love for the lost and for God’s glory among the nations in the hearts of our hearers. We love this life as coworkers on mission in South Asia, and we want to inspire other believers on their own journeys of faithfulness to His calling.
So welcome, Coworker. We hope you’re encouraged by God’s Word and His Spirit to say “yes” to His mission. And to find the fulness of joy that He promises when we do.
